Music Monday – Songs for Writers

May 25th, 2026

It’s May and you know what that means! It’s Eurovision Time!!!! Down below are some of my favorites from the competition. But don’t worry, I hear some of you (Milena, I’m already a fan of Eurovision) I know and I love you, that’s why there’s some new (non ESC music on the list too)

Enjoy!!!

(note: for most of the songs that aren’t in English, especially the tracks that might come from movies and such, I won’t be too familiar with the meanings of the lyrics, but I am of the belief that listening to music in other languages, even (or especially) when you can’t understand it, makes you a better person and also introduces you to incredibly epic songs you would’ve otherwise ignored.

However, if any of the songs on my lists end up saying anything particularly egregious, let me know and I’ll remove it, though do consider what some of the songs you listen to in English say, especially in the rap genre – Okay, enough blah blah blah)

LET’S GOOOOOO

Bangaranga (Eurovision) · Dara

First up on my list is the song that cannot stay out of my head! Congratulations to Bulgaria’s first winning song!!! The very moment this song came on, my mother and I looked at each other and said that this one was going to win the entire thing. And we were right!

It’s an earworm to end all earworms, 10/10 club banger, an endlessly entertaining pop song with top notch choreography (seriously, check out the grand final performance). This song had us bouncing out of our seats. This song is going to be on replay for the rest of the year at least

A little more about the singer: Darina Nikolaeva Yotova, from Varna, Bulgaria, (stage name: DARA) first became known when she reached the final in the Bulgarian edition of The X Factor in 2015.

If you haven’t heard this song yet, stop what you’re doing and listen to it right now already!

Liekinheitin · Linda Lampenius · Pete Parkkonen

This was the entry from Finland this year and personally, I think this song should’ve gotten second place. A live violin performance and beautiful vocals from two personable and skilled performers?! Sign me up!

Hot, hot, hot! And not just because everything was on fire!!

Ridnym (Eurovision Version) · Leléka

This was the entry from Ukraine this year and buckle up for the high note on this one. A beautiful and hopeful song with vocals and visuals that will stick with you.

Ukraine continuing their tradition of sending the most striking and breathtaking songs (literally in Leléka’s case- seriously how does she do that in one breath?)

Ēnā · Atvara

This song was the entry for Latvia and honestly I’ve been loving their songs in recent years. (I’m biased because I’ve been a huge fan of Tautumeitas for a decade now)

I don’t know how this song didn’t make it into the final, it is such a stunning song and the vocals are top notch! And are those some choir vocals I hear in the back? Don’t sleep on this one folks, especially if you like more sad vibes.

This song has been on repeat for several days!

Crossroads · Daniel Zizka

This was the entry for Czechia this year and wow!

Again amazing vocals (both high and low), and I really liked the performance (even though the camera malfunctioned halfway through). I can’t hype this song up enough, go listen to it.

Krishna Govinda | Krishnavataram Part 1 | Sunidhi Chauhan, Irshad Kamil, Prasad S.

By: Saregama Music

This isn’t a song list of mine if it doesn’t have epic Indian hits. You’re welcome in advance. I’ve had this one playing all month long. Also I love the choreography to bits. Here’s the info:

Krishnavataram’s new track Krishna Govinda, ‘A Sacred Dance of Devotion’ comes alive in the voice of Sunidhi Chauhan.  Releasing in theatres worldwide on May 7, 2026, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu

Credits:

  • Song: Krishna Govinda
  • Music Composer: Prasad S.
  • Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
  • Vocals: Sunidhi Chauhan

(more info in the description of the song)

Fruzel Cardeneia · Yuki Hayashi

And for our list’s cinematic entry: enjoy one of these songs by one of my favorite composers. This one is very hopeful and heroic. Yuki Hayashi of course is the Japanese composer who gifted us with the soundtracks for Haikyuu!! and My Hero Academia.

This is from the Wistoria: Wand and Sword anime soundtrack. The anime has two seasons and came out in 2024. Considering its composer, it’s definitely on my watch list now!

Grab this book if you love Arthurian Fantasy:

Now I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you that I have a fantasy novel up for grabs on any online book retailer. It’s an Arthurian Fantasy with a focus on celtic mythology, reincarnation, found family, and portals to another world!

Check it out on amazon Here!
